This is not a whining post, just that I talked with my friend last week and since she was a school teacher, had met a lot of children. One of the issue that we talked about concerns the special children. The ones that need extra love, patience and a bit dash of understanding.

Well, I am a Dyslexic. Not proud abt it, just resigned to that fact.

Known about it for quite sometime already, when one of my collegemate who was doing a topic abt Dyslexia distributed a small questionaire among her 'test subjects'. I displayed the most common dyslexic symptoms (and yes, I became her pet test subject). No, I had not gone for any professional examination. Don't think that I need to know precisely how bad my condition is since I had gone thru a lot of problems during the sekolah rendah and sekolah menengah.

Ok, among the symptoms that I had displayed :
1) Really late to talk, my mum said only started talking arnd 2 years old.
2) Left and right disorientation. My mom always exasperatedly changed my left and right school shoes after I tied them. But, I did win first prize during my tadika's tying shoelaces competition, go figure!
3) Cannot tie shoelaces. The knots are so complicated for me and I usually end up doing the deadknot which my mum had to pry open with tweezers. So lastly, my mom bought me those Pallas shoes with the straps.
4) Hate facts related subjects. I love History since I can tell stories, the 'what happen'. Tho dates and people's name really boggles me.
5) I have no idea on how to read maps. That is why I love Google Map. It gives me points and landmarks so it helped me on visualization. Hehehe.
6) Bad at maths, tho somehow really good at Pelan dan Dongakan & Pelayaran subjects. Even my teacher was astounded by this. ;)
7) Bad memory for number, especially telephone numbers. Thank God for Handphones.
8) Really low pain threshold. Asked my doctors, they usually give me extra pain killers. ;)
9) Really, really clumsy. I had bruises all over my body and even at 1 point in time, the doctor examining me was asking questions whether I got beaten at home.
10) Not so sure abt this, but I have a really good imagination. Which causes extra problem when you are living alone. :D
11) Really difficult to memorize names, have no issue with faces tho. Connecting the face with a name is a nightmare.

Most of my friends know that I have a really high rate of getting 'lost' in places and roads. I have no idea what road to take and which directions that I had gone thru. Yes, it is really frustrating and GPS is my main friend on the road. But then, sometimes GPS simply lost its signal and I am back to square one....which is praying to Allah so that I can find my way back home.

Tho now, growing up being called a slow learner and a lot of denda by standing in classes when I cannot answer question, had made me good at improvisation. I can tie shoelaces and identify the correct side of shoe for the correct side of feet (well, I can compare shapes, hehehe). Left is the side of the hand that can create the L shape. Kanan is the side of the hand that moves a lot. Google map and GPS are my main companion. I'm old enuf to NOT take anymore school subjects (Yeay!!). I chose easily to remember numbers based on some rhythm for my own handphone number. I skirted waaaaaay clear from clutter, even tho for others, my house looks like having too little furniture. I don't watch horror movies. And I mostly don't go to parties, which causes some people to call me anti-social. ;)

It is a disability of sort and proves both frustrating to me and to others too. Patience in this case IS a virtue, which I'm sorely lacking. Still learning and still trying to ignore feeling slighted, especially with people that do not understand that each human is different or did not care that I can barely comprehend the small slip of map that they throw to me.

Well, everyday is still a challenge and I am still trying my best to deal with it.

May Allah give me more patience.

Some linx for you to read more about Dyslexia. Read abt it and identify whether the children around you might need extra patience and understanding. Visual aids helped us a lot and believe me, Dyslexic children are NOT stupid. Keep in mind, there are many levels of Dyslexia and each children shows different symptoms.

Dah setengah bulan berpuasa. So, to my frenz, Gambate!! Kekeke.

Loves this song, (excerpt)...

Caterpillar in the tree
How you wonder who you'd be
Can't go far but you can always dream

Wish you may and wish you might
Don't you worry , hold on tight
I promise you there will come a day
Butterfly fly away

Sweeto... :)

Tangan still bengkak. :(

On saturday, plan gah kononnya nak kemas umah...sambil2 kemas baru perasan all the pencuci lantai and toilet dah abis. So larik la ke Jusco. Sampai ke bawah umah , nak angkat all the stuffs from the keta (pinjam daa, Boo still tersangkut kat bengkel, buat dental surgeries), then tetiba tangan terkepak. Dia terpusing ke tempat yang aku still sakit tuh. Apa lagik, terjerit ah. Kuar gaks la air mata tahan sakit.

Masuk umah, tangan dah throbbing...sambung la gaks kemas. Just buat a few stuffs ah....all the sental menyental kena KIV. Tangan makin sakit, dah menular ke bahu dah and aku tak leh nak telan ponstan. :`(

Since dah kena sound suh pegi gaks tgk Boo, so bawak la gps, kuar carik bengkel. Pusing nyer pusing, (dah la driving ngan tangan sebelah since sebelah lagik tak leh genggam dah) jumpa la bengkel...tapi takder Boo. Owner bengkel kata kat another workshop. Wookeeeyyy. Minta alamat and masuk keta. Dah tahap nak nangis dah, tapi tahan gaks and go to the other bengkel.

Buka gps, tak jumpa Bukit Serdang. Deng. So, aku nak pegi mana nih?? Pusing2, pusing2, pusing2....terbawak keta ke lane orang, menjerit orang dalam keta tuh. That's it!! Aku berenti tepi and call the workshop. Tanya kabar aja la. Tak daya dah nak memusing, cam orang gila and aku still tak jumpa jalan ke Bukit Serdang. Nak berenti tanya orang pun tak guna since aku bukan kenal jalan.

Balek umah, buat megi, makan and tido.

Itu la adventure aku last weekend.

And tangan still sakit, at least bengkak dah surut skets and dah boleh genggam. Tho big problem kalau nak buka jars and bottles.

Boo at the hospital. Hmmm...shian Boo. Something happened and the next thing that I know, I was struggling with the steering wheel. No, I was not speeding and no, I was not dreaming while driving. In fact, I was being extra careful at the time. :(

Thank God for all the knights in shining armour, the two taxi drivers that had stopped and graciously helped me to redirect the traffic and gave me advices on what to do, the tow truck guy that had stayed with me during the waiting period (hope he stayed a true knight and do not screw me later with the insurance thingie), the several guys that had stopped and asked me whether I was ok. And of course, to the shiniest knight of all, the one that had forced me to eat and calmed me down. Thank God for all of your presence and thank you very very much from the bottom of my heart.

Accidents do happen and no, my whole life were not flashing across my eyes. All I was thinking was, "Ya Allah, please let me not harm others". And I am very happy that my prayer was answered.

As my shiniest knight had reminded me again and again, Thank God for my safety and for the safety of others.

Tho, accident sucks. :(

I am always the advocater for safety. For a girl that had been robbed in the broad daylight and nearly kidnapped by an old crazy man, it is an issue that is very near to my heart.

I totally dislike dark roads or really desolate roads. I hate it when the two are combined. Had a few breakdowns when I had to go thru these kind of roads alone....well, twice in fact. Both on the same night and at 2 different locations.

Well, I even have a security system when faced going thru these kind of roads or at new places.
- When leaving home, 1 sms.
- Arrived at the new location, 1 sms.
- Leaving the new location, 1 sms.
- And arrived safely home, barricaded and secured, another 1 sms.
So, overall 4 sms. Emphasized on the barricaded and secured part.

Among my most scary scenario, being raped, killed and dumped somewhere. No one knows where and no one knows when. Sort of like when one of the US homeless man being killed, no one cares and no one knows. Only get a decent burial when Booth and Bones managed to get my maggoty remains. And I hate maggots..

Some guys said that I had too much imagination. Ever read the newspapers? Or (Na'uzubillah) knew someone that had been raped? Apparently these guys do not. Ladies everywhere did and have.

Some guys told me that God protect everyone that they love. But they forgot that God also give akal to the mankind to think. To leave everything to God is simply not using the akal that was given. But then Men thinks that Women do not have akal, only Men have those since they are the selected ones. If Women have good intuition or good ideas, who cares....these are only Women. Cattles are higher than Women.

Now, I have been called to forgo all these things. To abandoned the security measures that I had since forever and to neglect the voice of reason that I always have. Who cares that the crime rates are on the rise, or it is not safe anymore for a woman (young or old) to walk the streets of Malaysia. Who cares that a lot of streets in Malaysia are not lit up or I am always being hounded by crazy guys all my life. Who cares that a lot of cases in the newspaper of guys breaking into houses, raped the ladies and flee with the belongings. Who cares that safety is the utmost in a lady's mind in selecting shops to frequent, but apparently negligible to a man.

Hmmmm........

Boo kena sakit kaki. Bila tekan brek, dia bunyi ala2 besi bergesel ngan besi. So, pegi clean up and check by chiropracter la. Suspect, brekpad masuk pasir...hmmm....
Check tayar, tukang bengkel kata ok lagik. Alhamdulillah, risau gaks sebab asik berpusing2 aja now.
Sib baik less than rm100 (plus other checks and adjustment la), kalau idak mau kena tinggal si Boo kat kedai.
Meh Boo, kita balek tido. Change diorg dah abis. Meh balek...Penat berjalan satu hari.

Highest speed Boo leh sampai -> 160 kmph.

Biasa, highest would be at 152 kmph aja.

Tapi since aku pelik kena potong ngan another Myvi, so did a test. Kali nih, stop aircond terus....so dapat naik skets lagik. Nak try naik lagik tinggi, tapi ada another car tetiba ke kanan, so leave it la. Also jalan berliku2, bahaya ah. ;)

Also noticed, that other MyVi had a different kind of ekzos...might be modified. Hahaha.

Ok, will not try again la. Dah kena marah kaw-kaw ngan anum. :(

So, I would officially close the speed experiments with Boo.

We'll try weight experiment pulak after this. Waka waka.

The race of man shall perish, but the eyes
Of trilobytes eternal in stone,
And seem to stare about in mild surprise
At changes greater than they have yet known.
- T.A. Conrad

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
- William Blake,
excerp from Auguries of Innocence.
